Today we bring you the Cricketers who scored the most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. The 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy was played during October 3- November 15, 2000; 10 matches were played in the tournament. This was the second edition of the ‘mini’ Cricket World Cup run by ICC and the edition was hosted by Kenya. Eleven teams were part of the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy viz. India, Pakistan, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia, West Indies, Kenya, Bangladesh & Sri Lanka. 5. Rahul Dravid (India)
Indian Batsman Rahul Dravid scored 157 runs from the four matches he played in the tournament with an average of 52.33 and best score of 68 not out coming against Kenya on October 3. With these runs, Dravid featured into the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. This was one of his two 50+ scores in the tournament. In his highest score match, Kenya had batted first and scored 208/9 with Ravi Shah’s 60 & Maurice Odumbe’s 51. Zaheer Khan took 3 wickets, while Ajit Agarkar, Venkatesh Prasad & Anil Kumble took two wickets each. India chased down the target and won by 8 wickets with Captain Sourav Ganguly scoring 66, while Rahul Dravid & Vinod Kambli finishing the chase.
4. Sachin Tendulkar (India)
Indian Cricket Legend Master Blaster Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar scored 171 runs from the four matches he played in the tournament with an average of 42.75 and best score of 69 coming against New Zealand in the tournament final on October 15. With this run aggregate, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar featured into the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. His runs would include just one fifty.
In his best score innings, India had batted first and scored 264/6 with Sachin’s fifty & Sourav Ganguly’s 117. Scott Styris took 2 wickets. New Zealand chased down the target and won by 4 wickets with Chris Cairns’ 102 not out. Venkatesh Prasad took 3 while Anil Kumble took 2.

New Zealand Southpaw Roger Graham Twose scored 203 runs from the three matches he played in the tournament with an outstanding average of 67.66 and best score of 87 coming against Pakistan on October 11 in the first semifinal. With this run aggregate, Twose featured into the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. In his highest score innings match, Pakistan had batted first and were bowled out for 252 despite Saeed Anwar’s 104 and Abdul Razzaq’s 48. Shayne O’Connor took 5 wickets. New Zealand chased down the target to set a title clash against India. Roger Twose & Craig McMillan were the key scorers for the Kiwi team.
2. Saeed Anwar (Pakistan)
Pakistan Opening Batsman Saeed Anwar would score 209 runs from the two matches he played in the tournament with an average of 209 and best score of 105 not out coming against Sri Lanka on October 8. With this run aggregate, Saeed Anwar featured in the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. In his best score innings, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 194 with Wasim Akram & Azhar Mahmood taking 3 wickets each while Saqlain Mushtaq took 2. Pakistan chased down the target and won by 9 wickets. Anwar guided the team through while Mohammad Yousuf scored 42 not out.

Indian Captain and Opening Batsman Sourav Chandidas Ganguly scored 348 runs from the four matches he played in the tournament with an average of 116 and best score of 141 not out coming against South Africa on October 13, in the second semifinal of the tournament. His runs would have 2 hundreds & a fifty, as he scored the most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. In his highest score match, India had batted first and scored 295/6 with Sourav’s hundred & Dravid’s 58. Allan Donald & Jacques Kallis took 2 wickets each. South Africa, in reply, were bowled out for 200 with only Mark Boucher standing up to the Indian bowling. Zaheer Khan, Anil Kumble & Sachin Tendulkar took 2 wickets each in this win.
These were the top scorers in the second edition of the ICC Champions Trophy, in 2000, the ones who made to the top 5 list of most runs in Champions Trophy 2000. It was a KnockOut tournament with 11 teams participating, 3 getting eliminated in the pre-quarterfinals and 8 teams would progress to the quarterfinals and the winning four would reach the semifinals and then the winning 2 would go to tournament final to fight out for the trophy.
