Addamo, Adams, and Bonomo Among Big Sunday Winners
By admin | | 0 Comments |

February 16 2021 Matthew Pitt Online poker tournaments are massive on Sundays and this fact along brings out the game’s best players. Michael Addamo, Timothy Adams, and Justin Bonomo are just three of those stellar names who managed to take down a Sunday major this weekend. Addamo Takes Down GGPoker Sunday 500 High Rollers $5,250 Michael Addamo enjoyed a super Sunday courtesy of triumphing in the Sunday 500 High Rollers $5,250, a tournament that attracted 113 of the world’s best players to the GGPoker virtual felt. Addamo’s first bullet didn’t go to plan and he crashed out in 76th place. He re-entered and put used his new stack to full effect. The likes of Kristen Bicknell, Matthias Eibinger, Elio Fox, Benjamin Rolle, and Anatoly Filatov busted inside the money places but before the star-studded final table. Austria’s “Filip1” was the final table’s first casualty. Their ninth-place exit awarding a $14,833 prize. Alex Foxen and David Yan then busted. Yan would go on to take down Sunday High Rollers Bounty King $3,150 for $49,300 later in the evening. The exits of Michael Zhang, Aleksei Barkov, Pascal Hartmann, and David Peters left Addamo heads-up against Wiktor Malinowski. Addamo rarely loses when he’s heads-up and that was the case again here. Addamo collected $131,187 for his victory while Malinowski banked $99,898 for his runner-up finish. Defeating Malinowski will go some way to making up for losing a massive $842,000 cash game pot last year. Spin Your Way to the $5M GTD Big Blowout at PokerStars
By admin | | 0 Comments |

January 10 2021 Jason Glatzer Every Sunday in the inaugural Blowout Series at PokerStars features a huge Big Blowout event with a $5,000,000 GTD. This week's buy-in is $530, with a $1,050 Big Blowout event to round out the series next weekend. But don't worry if you're itching to play, and don't quite have the cash to buy-in direct! There are still plenty of ways for you to get your hands on a ticket much cheaper through satellites (with cheap feeders), sit-and-go's, Spin & Go's, and more! Spin Your Way to a $1,050 Big Blowout Ticket If time is of the essence, and you want to see some constant action, you should consider playing the Special Edition Spin & Go's that will run until Jan. 17. They are littered throughout the PokerStars lobby both day and night and easy to hop into. The Special Edition Spin & Go's feature two separate price points. You can choose to play these games for just $4 or instead play a bit higher and hop into $22 Spin & Go's. The games can be found within the Spin & Go section at PokerStars and kick off once three players have entered at which point the randomized prize is revealed. Spin $4 Into a $1,050 Big Blowout Seat at PokerStars! Benefits of the $4 Spin & Go's The biggest benefit to grinding the $4 Spin & Go's are that are more than five-times cheaper than the $22 version while still giving you a chance to win a Big Blowout ticket valued at $1,050. Other prizes you can win include Blowout Series tickets valued at $109, $55, and $22 with it also possible for you to be playing for cash prizes of $11 or $8. Benefits of the $22 Spin & Go's Did you know? The odds of you winning the $1,050 Big Blowout ticket are more than 30-times likely than winning one in the $4 Spin & Go's! In addition, you also have a chance to win a ticket to this Sunday's $530 Big Blowout, which is a prize not on tap in the $4 games. This ticket can also be used for other Blowout Series events featuring this buy-in. Also on tap in the $22 games are Blowout Series tickets valued at $215, $109, and $55 along with the chance to play for $40 in cash. One other big benefit to the $22 Spin & Go's as compared to the small version is the amount of effective rake you will pay. The $4 games feature a reasonable 8 percent rake structure while the $22 games boast a smaller 6 percent rake structure. Don't Think You Can Win? Think Again! Not everyone will win tickets that play in these Special Edition Spin & Go's. We know that and are sure you do too. However, players do win tickets to big events via Spin & Go's more than you might think. A great example was in November when British poker grinder Jamie Nixon hopped into a $75 Spin & Go after a day where nothing went well and won an EPT Online High Roller ticket valued at a $25,000! Nixon parlayed this into a final table appearance where he bowed out in eighth place for $71,387. Not a bad return at all for just $75! We Entered GGPoker’s Softest Poker Tournament – This is What We Found
By admin | | 0 Comments |

January 10 2021 Will Shillibier GGPoker has a huge variety of poker tournaments and cash games for players to choose from. Sometimes it's enough to make you wonder where to start! But don't worry. If you've tried out the Bounty Hunters and you're tired of the Omaholic tournaments, we have something that might shake things up entirely! Related: Eight Crucial Beginner Poker Tips From GGPoker What is Short Deck Poker? Short Deck Poker is an exciting poker variant where a 36-card deck is used rather than the full 52-card deck. This means the , , and are removed. For this reason it is also called 6+ Hold'em. Most first heard of short-deck poker after it was introduced among the mix in the high-stakes cash games in Macau, but it has grown increasingly popular and is readily available across most major online poker sites. What Did We Find? Short Deck can be incredibly fun because the odds of making a hand that would be incredibly strong in Texas Hold'em is incredibly high. However, players forget that in order to scoop the pot in Short Deck, you must have a strong hand. For example, holding a straight on a paired board in Texas Hold'em would be a strong position. However in Short Deck, the odds of an opponent holding a full house or better is much higher, and therefore the strength of that straight is reduced. Nevertheless, we witnessed someone calling off for their tournament life in the exact position and they were eliminated. People also forget one of the basics of poker - bet sizing. Pre-flop people would look down at big hands like or and think they've got a monster. However, the same rules apply. Because the low-value cards have been removed, the pre-flop hands are always going to be slightly stronger. Why are Short Deck Bounty Tournaments Soft? A "soft" tournament is one where the vast majority of players are weak or inexperienced. It only takes a small level of knowledge in that particular game or variant to easily make money. That's why Short Deck Bounty tournaments can be perfect. Not many people know the Game Theory Optimal (GTO) way around the game of Short Deck, and when you factor in the bounties that are up for grabs then the tournament can prove very profitable indeed. For example, inexperienced players may not realise that hand strength is vastly different in Short Deck, and may bet and move all in with a hand that is in no fit position to win. Additionally, in Short Deck, a flush often beats a full house, something beginner players or those used to Texas Hold'em may not be aware of. By paying attention to the texture of the board, and brushing up on Short Deck hand rankings before sitting down to play, you can be in prime position to dominate these tournaments. Play Short Deck Bounty Tournaments GGPoker offer both Short Deck tournaments and cash games that can be easily found within their client, but what we really like here at PokerNews are the Short Deck Bounty tournaments. With buy-ins starting as low as $2.10 and going up to $31.50 they could prove to be some of the softest tournaments on the site. Buy-inMinimum Bounty $2.10$0.75 $3.15$0.75 $10.50$2.50 $12.60$3 $21$5 $31.50$7.50 Join GGPoker via PokerNews Get in on the action at GGPoker by downloading GGPoker via PokerNews. Doing so entitles you to a welcome bonus worth up to $600 or $100 in tickets! Your first deposit is matched up to a maximum of $600. The bonus releases into your account in $10 increments each time you earn 6,000 Fish Buffet Points, which is the equivalent of $60 in rake or tournament fees.

WSOP Champion Jacobson and Poker Pro Jattin Launch Online Training Course
By admin | | 0 Comments |

January 11 2021 PokerNews Staff 2014 World Series of Poker champion Martin Jacobson has teamed up with fellow poker pro Farid Jattin to offer a new way of studying poker at an elite level. The pair have put their minds and resources together in order to bring the poker community a comprehensive poker road map on the most valuable knowledge needed to succeed in tournament poker. When Does The Course Take Place? The group course will take place via Zoom and Jacobson says that by the end of the course, students will be able to better understand the fundamentals of the game. "Due to the complexity of the game," said Jacobson. "We've optimized the course by focusing on principles which are applicable to multiple situations. To summarize, we won't only teach you WHAT to do but also explain WHY we do it." With concepts such asRFI (Raise First In) Charts, Defending the Big Blind, Bubble Play and Final Table Play all featured, Jacobson also said that the course will feature some special guest appearances along the way. Martin and Farid Poker Achievements Martin and Farid have a long list of accomplishments in poker over the last decade and say that they are looking forward to sharing their experience with players looking to improve their game. If you're not sure if the course is right for you, don't worry. While most of their students have been playing semi-professionally for years, there is also space for those who are looking to accomplish their own individual goals. “I’ve had a wide range of students from mid-stakes recreationals to high-stakes regulars,” Jattin pointed out about his previous courses. “I think it’s more geared to the semi-professionals since it’s not solver heavy but my high-stakes students have all been crushing after the class.” Studying poker on your own can be quite overwhelming and in all honesty, pretty boring. That is why Martin and Farid have designed the course to be studied in a group environment. "The course is structured in a way where Farid and I will begin each class by presenting topics in a visual and engaging way. Questions and discussions are flowing organically throughout the class which further elevates everyone's progress." An alternative to the standard online course where you stream and watch on your own, this course will provide close-knit group coaching in an interactive face-to-face format. Course Aims to Include the Social Side of Poker In what has been a challenging past 12 months especially for the live poker community, Jacobson was reminded how important the social aspect is to the game, something he has really missed. The former world champion attributes a lot of his success to the real-life conversations and hand histories he partakes in during live tournaments. So why not align this aspect with the study element in a time when we need it the most. "We are a good team and bring different aspects to the course, looking at things from different angles and getting to the best possible outcome,” Jacobson added. “Perhaps most importantly, as much as we love playing poker, we both find it more rewarding to share our knowledge and experience to help up and coming players succeed." As for Farid who has already had great success with group coaching in the past, he is using his time away from live poker to find time in another passion. “With everything shifting to online during the pandemic, I felt like I wasn’t being productive and I wasn’t really providing value to the community. This course gave me a perfect chance to do both.” Courses will run every Tuesday and Thursday through January and February with the first course beginning on January 12th. Each session will be two hours long, with the 20-hour course running for five weeks. The low cost of $1,500 equates to $75/hour with students having the option of two time slots to choose from on each day to suit their needs. With the purchase of a full package, you will also gain access to the discord channel for members only. All you need is access to a computer and Zoom account.
